I hear fashion experts fighting each other regarding horizontal and vertical stripes abilities to make you either slimmer or wider. Traditionally, we know that plus-sized ladies should avoid wearing horizontal stripes, as such stripes give an illusion of bulk, but it appears to be a harsh mistake after all. Horizontal stripes have an opposite effect, as you appear taller and more 3 dimensional when wearing horizontal stripes. Personally, I think vertical and horizontal stripes can look both ideally cool when you style them correctly. So let’s get down to the business and see how to wear striped clothing for women this year.
There are different ways of wearing this print. I have made this collection of street style images, where ladies appear in basic outfits featuring tops, dresses, shirts, skirts with traditional horizontal black and white stripes. The easiest way of wearing stripes is simply pairing blouse or any other striped top with a pair of jeans. If you have fat problems, then you better choose the loose-fit top. The good idea is to wear a striped top with a simple black high-waisted bottom. If you have thin top and curvy bottom, then I recommend to try on an outfit with a vertical striped top part and one color bottom. If you don’t want to keep things complicated, then I recommend to simply grab a striped tunic-length top and pair it with leggings, or choose elongated tunic shirt-dress and style it with tights. I am so in love with simple striped jersey dress that can be paired with leggings, boots and long knitted cardigan. If you want to complete the striped outfit, then you can add accessories. You can go with a beautiful necklace, sexy tie to a colorful scarf.
